Blessed Mary of the Divine Heart and Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque Adoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus,

Corrado Mezzana, 1922

This prayer was composed by Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690). She was a saint and mystic who lived in 17th century France and received many visions of Jesus Christ. During these visions Our Lord confided to her the mission to establish devotion to His Sacred Heart.

Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina (1887-1968), a Franciscan mystic and stigmatist, promoted this prayer and prayed it when he wanted to intercede for someone. The prayer is sometimes called 'Padre Pio's prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus', 'Padre Pio's miracle prayer'. or 'Padre Pio's secret weapon'.

The prayer may be prayed individually or over nine days as a novena.

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail holy Queen, Mother of mercy, Hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us. And after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

O Sweetest Jesus, hide me in Thy Sacred Heart, permit me not to be separated from Thee, defend me from the evil foe.

Iesu dulcissime, in tuo sacratissimo Corde absconde me, ne permittas me separari a te, ab hoste maligno defende me.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on us.

Cor Jesu Sacratissimum miserere nobis.

Jesus meek and humble of Heart, make our hearts like unto Thine.

Jesu mitis et humilis Corde, fac cor nostrum secundum Cor Tuum.

Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, set our hearts on fire with love of Thee.

Cor Iesu, flagrans amore nostri, inflamma cor nostrum amore tui.

Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love.

Dulce Cor Iesu, sis amor meus.

Beautiful Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Sacred Heart of Jesus,

filled with infinite love,

broken by my ingratitude,

pierced by my sins,

yet loving me still,

accept the consecration that I make to You,

of all that I am and all that I have.

Take every faculty of my soul and body,

and draw me, day by day,

nearer and nearer to Your Sacred Side,

and there, as I can bear the lesson,

teach me Your blessed ways.

Amen.

O divine Heart of Jesus, grant, we pray You, eternal rest to the souls in purgatory, final grace to those who are about to die, true repentance to sinners, the light of faith to non-Christians, and Your blessing to us and all who are dear to us. To You, therefore, we commend all these souls, and in their behalf we offer unto You all the merits of Your Sacred Heart.

R/. Amen.

(Pause here to make petitions to the Sacred Heart.)

Let us pray.

O God, Who deign mercifully to bestow upon us the infinite treasures of love in the Heart of Your Son, which was wounded for our sins; grant, we beseech You, that we who pay Him the devout homage of our piety may in like manner show unto You our due of worthy satisfaction. Through the same Christ our Lord.

R/. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

By St. Margaret Mary Alacoque

I [name] give myself and consecrate to the Sacred Heart of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, my person and my life, my actions, pains and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being, save to honour, love and glorify the Sacred Heart.

This is my unchanging purpose, namely, to be all His, and to do all things for the love of Him, at the same time renouncing with all my heart whatever is displeasing to Him.

I, therefore, take Thee, O Sacred Heart, to be the only object of my love, the guardian of my life, my assurance of salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for all the faults of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of death.

Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before GOD Thy FATHER, and turn away from me the strokes of His righteous anger. O Heart of love, I put all my confidence in Thee, for I fear everything from my own weakness and frailty, but I hope for all things from Thy goodness and bounty.

Do Thou consume in me all that can displease Thee or resist Thy holy will; let Thy pure love imprint Thee so deeply on my heart, that I shall nevermore be able to forget Thee or to be separated from Thee, may I obtain from all Thy loving kindness the grace of having my name written in Thee, for in Thee I desire to place all my happiness and all my glory, living and dying in very bondage to Thee.

Amen.

Consecration of the Family to the Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart of Jesus, who didst manifest to Blessed Margaret Mary the desire of reigning in Christian families, we today wish to proclaim Thy most complete regal dominion over our own. We would live in future with Thy life, we would cause to flourish in our midst those virtues to which Thou hast promised peace here below, we would banish far from us the spirit of the world which Thou hast cursed; and Thou shalt reign, over our minds in the simplicity of our faith, and over our hearts by the whole-hearted love with which they shall burn for Thee, the flame of which we shall keep alive by the frequent reception of Thy divine Eucharist.

Deign, O divine Heart, to preside over our assemblings, to bless our enterprises, both spiritual and temporal, to dispel our cares, to sanctify our joys, to alleviate our sufferings.

If ever one or other of us should have the misfortune to afflict Thee, remind him, O Heart of Jesus, that Thou art good and merciful to the penitent sinner. And when the hour of separation strikes, when death shall come to cast mourning in our midst, we will all, both those who go and those who stay, be submissive to Thy eternal decrees. We will console ourselves with the thought that a day will come when the entire family, reunited in Heaven, can sing for ever Thy glories and Thy mercies.

May the immaculate heart of Mary and the glorious Patriarch, St Joseph, present this consecration to Thee, and keep it in our minds all the days of our life. All glory to the Heart of Jesus, our King and our Father.

John 3.16:

For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.

Sic enim Deus dilexit mundum, ut Filium suum unigenitum daret : ut omnis qui credit in eum, non pereat, sed habeat vitam aeternam.
